In November 2004, 45 states received United We Ride State Coordination grants and letters of award recognition from Federal Transit Administrator, Jennifer L. Dorn. These grants were distributed to support States working towards the goal of meeting the needs of transportation-disadvantages individuals (i.e. older adults and individuals with disabilities and/or lower incomes). The State grants are intended to be used to assist states with conducting a comprehensive state assessment using the Framework for Action or for those states that have an established Action Plan already, the state grant can be used to further implement one or more of the elements identified within the Framework for Action.
