The provisions in IDEA, ensure a free and appropriate education for all children with disabilities, and provided for the establishment of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process. Parents have advocated for and have been successful in making transportation a part of the IEP. Activities related to transportation including travel training should be incorporated into an individuals’ IEP and are critical to a student's successful transition into the adult world. The estimated size of funding for this program is $11,000,000,000 annually. State Education Agencies are grant recipients under Part B of IDEA.
