This program allows participating tribes to use a portion of their existing funds to provide transportation to and from work, school, training, and related activities (Tribes can purchase vans, provide transportation vouchers, public transportation tickets, etc. for tribal members. The purpose of this initiative is to demonstrate how Indian tribal governments can integrate the employment, training, and related services they provide in order to improve the effectiveness of those services. Public Law 102-477 is unique because of its comprehensive approach to address joblessness, it is tribally initiated, and participation in this program is voluntary.
